Arbitration & Construction Senior Associate

Responsibilities and Job Description:

  • Senior Associate/Counsel will be responsible for working with the Partners and other senior members of the department on a strong portfolio of construction/arbitration disputes currently before the ICC and QICCA.
  • The non-contentious work of the Senior Associate/Counsel would be advising and providing consultation on construction contracts and construction disputes.
  • Drafting arbitration pleadings and the analysis of evidence, and witness statements.
  • Implementing case management strategies, together with partners/other senior attorneys;
  • Supervision of associates, trainees, paralegals, and secretarial staff.
  • Drafting pre-arbitration/litigation legal notices and letters of demands to be presented to the supervising attorney and sent to the client for approval;
  • Drafting and preparing Power of Attorney and all relevant instruction documentation.
  • Reviewing, drafting, and preparing corporate contracts and agreements;
  • Drafting high-quality legal advice and opinions on contract/commercial issues in the Construction sector;
  • Meeting with the client, attending hearings; representing the firm in the negotiations.
  • Drafting risk analysis and reports; Ad hoc work assigned by a supervising attorney.

 

Candidate requirements and Qualifications:

  • An LLB;
  • Extensive experience in construction law in private practice (non-contentious and contentious) and FIDIC contracts;
  • At least 8 to 12 years in private practice, preferably in construction law;
  • Strong written and oral English language ability;
  • A qualified lawyer;
  • Qualified as a barrister in the UK is an advantage.

  • English Is a must
  • The Arabic language is an advantage
