Description:

The Broadcast IT Engineer/Specialist is responsible in installing, maintaining and upgrading Broadcast equipment based on IT systems involved in Studio Operations, MCR or Transmission chain and basically any system that is computer/server based, in order to that ON AIR programs as well as services provided by engineering facilities are broadcasted on time to the highest possible level of quality. Should have ability analyze and repair the technical fault on equipment and maintaining high level of servicing of the system.

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Perform the Daily Engineering Equipment & Services Checklist for equipment under broadcast area.
  • Perform periodic checks and adjustments to confirm equipment ready for operations and use.
  • Execute periodic maintenance plan, down time requirement for all Broadcast IT system.
  • Perform periodic servicing of equipment, and scheduling major repairs, upgrade and services as appropriate, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures. Specific upgrade the equipment Software/Firmware to increase the operational capacity of the equipment in use.
  • Following & Implementing IT Security Guidelines for BIT Equipment
  • Troubleshoot, resolve problems, complaints and questions regarding services in a timely and efficient manner. Address any pending maintenance issues relevant to B-IT, Network or Storage equipment.
  • Minimize loss of service at times of equipment failure by rapidly identifying and implementing alternative methods of service provision. Provide emergency restoration procedures for broadcast facilities.
  • Create and perform ongoing repair, maintenance programs, and equipment replacement programs.
  • Interpret and implement instructions and requests from producers, directors, and other end users.
  • Create and update system diagrams according to system expansion and modification.
  • Provide presentations, training assistance, procedures, and manuals and develops unit documentation and database.
  • Document and report all required feedback including weekly unit performance, unit challenges and weaknesses, needs and requirements, reports requested by management, and escalate any issues that need management support.
  • Review the daily report for comments on broadcast IT equipment failures and act to repair and follow up on them.
  • Draw and submit daily technical report regarding broadcast and electronics equipment repairs and installations.
  • Support Senior Broadcast IT Engineers on installing and testing repaired and newly acquired equipment.
  • Participate in the technical evaluation of received equipment and systems.
  • Working alongside others in the technical department, broadcast IT engineers use a wide range of equipment and systems to ensure that programs are transmitted across different transmission centers at the correct times and to the highest standards of technical quality.
  • Coordinate with other sections, units for smooth daily operations.
  • Participate in the design, construction, equipment selection and implementation of current and future broadcast facility.
  • Ability to install and test the new broadcast-IT system.
  • Participate in the technical evaluation of received equipment and systems.
  • Create specifications for small broadcast-IT projects, related cost, feasibility calculations and risk performance.
