Description:

University of Doha for Science and Technology – Marketing and Communications Directorate is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Digital Media Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, Digital Media Specialist must possess the skills and expertise necessary to support the Marketing and Communications Directorate of the University and fully implementing UDST’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This position requires a confident communicator who can enhance, drive and manage all internal and external digital communications within and outside the organization.

The successful candidate will develop and execute UDST’s social media strategy, including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and any other relevant social media. Additionally, will create online media strategy and plan for UDST presence.

The successful candidate will develop and enhance the Corporate Intranet and manage its administration on an on-going basis along side overseeing the development and maintenance of UDST’s web presence, particularly the web site.

The incumbent will maintain a full understanding of digital media topics, technology and functionality including but not limited to Social Media and Email serving as UDST’s “online media expert,” remain updated with emerging trends, opportunities, and best practices. Candidate will also update colleagues and management on these trends and make recommendations for new activities.

The successful candidate will create advertising campaigns for social media platforms including videos and monitor day-to-day performance of those campaigns and the budgets for each campaign. Candidate will also monitor external digital news reports and escalate complex issues or negative press to the Superior to contribute towards maintenance and protection of the UDST public image.

The incumbent will liaise with all business units to share information and identify up-to-date information and good news stories and accomplishments that can be communicated to strengthen brand positioning.

The successful candidate will also generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video) that builds meaningful connection and encourages UDST audience to act.

The successful candidate will analyze and track the UDST website and other social media application user statistics and responses to external media to identify the trends of various marketing initiatives and provide feedback to the manager, communications.

The incumbent will perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications required.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Communications or related field

Language:

Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic language required.

Other Required Skills:

Highly proficient and reliable individual with good communications, PR and interpersonal skills. An expert in digital marketing, media relations along with good time management is preferred. Planning and execution, Team work, Analytic thinking, problem solving and service excellence should be the strong attributes.
