Education Advocacy Specialist

 

Description:

EAA is currently seeking candidates for the position of Education Advocacy Specialist to be responsible for managing the education advocacy stream of PEIC by providing technical lead and input in designing and managing related projects, advocacy strategies, activities and communications.

Also, responsible for coordinating with different departments to strategically integrate and align advocacy efforts with quality content at all levels.

 

  • Support the work of PEIC’s education stream in fulfilment of its strategic objectives and work-plans. Contribute to PEIC’s strategic planning processes and drive advocacy as a cross cutting issue within PEIC’s Strategic Planning.
  • Ensure PEIC’s strategic contribution to developing tools for training of trainers on advocacy for the right to education especially in situations of insecurity, crisis, conflict and post-conflict.
  • Design and develop educational projects that contribute to EAA vision through PEIC mission.
  • Coordinate the development of the Education stream’s work so that it contributes to greater attention by governments and their international and national partners.
  • Strengthen the integration of the Education dimension and its emphasis and concerns into PEIC’s Law & Education stream (e.g. regarding the right to education, issues of transitional justice) and the Monitoring & Reporting stream
  • Work to strength the global agenda on the protection of education for the most marginalised groups.
  • Review, analyse and provide technical education insight for Expressions of Interest and project proposals received.
  • Develop and implement global advocacy strategy (including clearly defined objectives, timelines, audiences, messages, and partners.
  • In collaboration with different partners, develop advocacy related plans of action that influence and impact behaviours towards protection of education in times of crisis.
  • Identify and create advocacy opportunities at all levels to contribute to achieving PEIC’s global advocacy priorities and goals including by identifying new alliances and partnerships in the field of advocacy.
  • Advise PEIC on ways to enhance reach and impact, particularly via digital advocacy
  • Provide technical input and support in ensuring to fill the gaps in advocacy especially between the high-level and grassroots advocacy.
  • Represent PEIC as a delegate and/or a speaker at international conferences, seminars and workshops when request.
  • Advocate for and engage in dialogues with key stakeholders on the protection of the right to education agenda through participating in international conferences, seminars and workshops when request.
  • Assist to establish strategic alliances and networks to carry out joint advocacy with UN agencies, donors, humanitarian assistance partners, and INGOs, NGOs and media institutions.
  • Coordinate, internally and externally, to integrate advocacy as an integral part of program and projects.
  • Ensure that PEIC’s advocacy is incrementally built through different projects and activities and monitor the progress of the same.
  • Drive interactions with PEIC’s & EAA’s current partners (international organizations, non-governmental organizations, academic and research institutions, etc.)
  • Conduct opportunity assessments of potential partners for projects in existing and new countries and advice on strategic and/or impactful opportunities.
  • Develop collaborative bilateral and/or multilateral relationships with existing/potential organizations, induvial experts and relevant government and non-governmental agencies.
  • Maintain and cultivate strategic relationships with key stakeholders in education advocacy on national, regional and global levels.
  • Manage partnership agreements according to EAA policies and processes, ensuring technical quality, rigorous M&E and on-time delivery. Provide support to partners when required.
  • Keep organization up-to-date on development in policy of relevance to violations of the right to education
  • Ensure to maintain a high quality and appropriate technical content, branding and materials to be posted, published and distributed in relation to education and the violation of the right to education is accurate and relevant with an understanding of the target audience
  • Work closely with EAA’s Outreach team, especially about communications (including social media campaigns), events and website development services.
  • Assist to develop advocacy follow up & assessment mechanisms to assess progress and outcome of advocacy activities, which are part of PEIC projects.
  • Develop reports on advocacy efforts on a regular basis.
  • Conduct research on similar conferences and events to benchmark performance and innovative ideas.
  • Provide M&E support to advocacy related activities, to facilitate decision-making process.
  • Coordinate to strengthen the capacity and skills of PEIC teams to plan and assess advocacy activities.
  • Coordinate with partners for capacity building on advocacy among community members to ensure ownership and sustainability.
  • Support the development and implementation of PEIC monitoring and evaluation strategy, including for digital/online advocacy.
  • Assisting with operational tasks to ensure that PEIC projects are efficiently and effectively delivered within the planned time schedule
  • Support in carrying out additional tasks, projects or responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor, reporting manager or EAA executive management from time to time.

 

In order to be successful in this role you will bring;

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Law, or International Relations, International Studies, History, Social Sciences or equivalent qualifications/experience in a relevant field. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant full-time work experience
  • Previous experience with UN, INGOs, Think Tanks, government officials, and experience implementing successful influencing policy and advocacy.
  • Experience of programming large global thought leadership through the full cycle of CN; Logistics; Project Management; Branding and Communications; Impact analysis and M&E

  • Political judgment and knowledge of the workings of UN system.
  • Ability to rapidly get up to speed on complex policy issues
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to translate sophisticated material and data into coherent narratives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners, including Qatari stakeholders
  • Strong public speaking, presentation networking, and training/capacity-building skills
  • Ability to quickly form effective working relationships to deliver results
  • Initiative and ability to work independently on fast-paced issues
  • Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to the PEIC vision, mission, and values and beneficiaries
  • English fluent written and spoken. Arabic and/or French as a second language preferable
  • A confident communicator with excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and has ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
