About the job
Level 1 Network Engineer to be based in Qatar on a 1-year contract with possible 2 year extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Setup and Maintenance: Your primary responsibility is to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot basic network infrastructure. You will ensure the network remains operational, addressing any issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Networking Principles: Leveraging your understanding of networking principles, you will contribute to the overall success of our network. Your grasp of fundamental concepts is essential in maintaining network integrity.
- Configuration Management: Managing basic configurations and installations is part of your role. You will work with network hardware and software to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Collaborative Team Player: Networking is a team effort. You will collaborate closely with team members, contributing to discussions and initiatives aimed at enhancing network performance and security.
- Policy Compliance: Ensuring network compliance with company policies is vital. You will align configurations and practices with established standards to maintain a secure and efficient network environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
- Solid understanding of networking principles and protocols.
- Effective problem-solving skills to troubleshoot network issues.
- Strong communication skills for collaborative work with team members.
- Attention to detail to ensure network configurations align with policies.
- Network Tools: Proficiency in network monitoring tools such as Wireshark, Nagios, or SolarWinds.
- Router and Switch Configuration: Ability to configure and maintain routers and switches.
- TCP/IP and Subnetting: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and subnetting.
- Network Troubleshooting: Effective troubleshooting skills to address network issues promptly.
- Basic Scripting: Familiarity with basic scripting languages for network automation (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Firewall Basics: Understanding of firewall principles and basic firewall management.
