Description:
The successful candidate will work directly with the firm senior counsel in Qatar. The focus will be on contract review, legal research and providing support on regulatory / legal matters. Workload permitting, there will be opportunities to get involved in enterprise risk management activities.
Job Responsibilities
• Contract Review: Review, draft, and negotiate various contracts and legal documents to safeguard the firm's interests.
• Legal Research: Conduct legal research to stay informed about changes in legislation and provide proactive advice to the management.
• Risk Management: Identify legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate potential liabilities.
• Provide expert legal advice and counsel on commercial matters, dispute resolution etc.
• Management of regulatory matters i.e., draft/review responses to the regulator and accompany teams during regulatory meetings.
• Co-ordination with external counsel (when applicable): Assist with various aspects of litigation, ensuring the company's interests are protected and represented effectively.
• Translation of regulatory letters for non-Arabic speaking stakeholders.
Qualification and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in law
• Proficient in Arabic and English
• Minimum 8 years legal experience gained as in-house legal counsel or at an international law firm.
• Minimum 6 years interacting with regulators / other legal parties.
• Experience handling high volume of contract reviews, drafting and negotiation.
• Qatar laws experience: Possess a deep understanding of Qatar company laws and regulations and stay updated on legal developments and provide support for company compliance. If not familiar with Qatar Law, commit to developing a deep understanding of Qatar company law and regulations and staying up to date.
