Metallurgy Lab Technician

Description:

We are looking to hire "Metallurgy Lab Technician" to our Foundry Factory located in Qatar.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performing thorough equipment inspections related to international standards like ASTM, ASME, AFS, AWS, ISO, EN, DIN, JIS and others.

• Testing repaired equipment for quality standards.

• Testing, evaluating, documenting, and communicating changes related to iron chemistries and the green sand molding processes.

• Perform chemical analysis by Spectrometer.

• Preform Testing of mechanical behavior such as Universal strength tensile, hardness, impact testing and others.

• Test molding and core sand to determine basic properties including moisture, green strength, permeability, and compact ability by using sand strength machine, moisture teller, permeability meter, sand Ramer and any other sand lab testing.

• Perform tests to determine amount of carbon and sulfur.

• prepare test samples by sanding and polishing, using tabletop sanders.

• Owning and running the calibration process to ensure all site calibrated equipment is compliant to site calibration requirements.

• Run and analyze designed experiments for improved quality regarding sand and iron chemistry improvements

• Adjustment machines, instruments and components using measuring and diagnostic software to ensure precision settings are in line with standards.

• Scheduling appointments for equipment maintenance and servicing and calibration with third party vendors where needed.

• Analyzing and suggesting equipment upgrades

• Maintaining and updating a record of all daily operations

• Maintaining documentation of the Testing process

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Educational Qualification.

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering.

• Three years in the testing field of green sand and iron chemistry.

• Working knowledge of MS Excel.
