Description:
EAA is currently seeking candidates for the position of Planning and Research, Sr. Specialist to support the core operations of the Planning & Evaluation Unit. He/she will be responsible for leading the planning and research activities carried out to evaluate and recommend new opportunities/country entries and will be leading the coordination and consolidation of annual and long term strategic planning.
Job Responsibilities;
- Manage the development of project and organizational operational plans in collaboration with Project managers.
- Responsible for the development and execution of the overall short and long-term strategies for the organization, including objectives, initiatives, projects and KPIs.
- Supervise the delivery of project proposals with support from programs and collate feedback and recommendations for improvement in future project.
- Manage meetings with potential partners and manage the communications flow for any new opportunity.
- Responsible for the development of the strategic plan/framework for the organization, taking a big-picture view of how the world is changing, and conducting analysis to develop a perspective on implications for the organization’s direction.
- Carry out exploratory visits to assess potential opportunities and support a comprehensive due diligence of the project implementation and potential partner.
- Manage the process of reviewing and updating corporate strategic objectives KPIs and prioritize the initiatives.
- Periodically develop country situational/ ecosystem analysis reports to inform decision-making
- Stay on top of trends in international development, fundraising, and impact measurement
- Manage the research needs of the organization’s management for the purpose of identifying, reviewing, and vetting potential opportunities and partners.
- Support Projects & Initiatives leadership in developing Executive Management briefings and papers.
- Work closely with projects’ managers and provide practical knowledge input into project planning, design and vetting and helping units to define relevant indicators.
- Support the implementation of a Performance Monitoring Plan to capture project performance and results
- Support the assessment of project performance to provide feedback to stakeholders and guide decision-making and corrective actions required.
- Continually improve on performance management processes and to recommend new tools that will give insights into a balanced measurement system that can assist in identifying areas for improvement and growth where necessary
- Support Projects & Initiatives management to analyse entities and initiatives’ business plans, assess different strategic options, evaluate performance, and business case proposals against intended strategy and goals avoiding scope deviations.
- Mapping of development landscape including potential partners, financing entities, ODAs, youth development organizations’ agendas and areas of focus, and initiate communication and partnerships development plan accordingly.
- Maintain a database of information relating to new and active projects along with relevant partners’ and, donors’, requirements, and such other details as are relevant to the development of those and maintaining partnerships;
- Act as the Planning & Evaluation Unit’s focal point for all procurement related requests and processes.
- Carryout any additional tasks, projects or responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Planning & Evaluation and senior management.
In order to be successful in this role you will bring;
- 8-10 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in International Development or a related field
Other Requirements;
- Past/ current experience working for international NGOs, particularly ones related to economic development, youth empowerment etc.
- Strong strategic planning skills
- Quantitative and qualitative research skills
- Statistical and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience in project proposal and resource mobilization is required.
- Excellent understanding of international economic development, poverty, hunger and environmental issues at a local and global scale

- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse multi-cultural environment.
- Good strategic thinking, planning, and analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative
- Outstanding writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with experience in different ways of communications regarding different levels in the organisation.
- Fluency in Arabic and English.
