Quantity Surveying (qs)

 

Description:

The Deputy Head of Department (DHOD) - QS will work alongside the Head of the QS Department to manage the quantity surveying team, ensuring that all aspects of project cost management, budgeting, and financial planning are handled effectively. This role will be pivotal in supporting the department's operations, ensuring high standards of accuracy in cost estimates, and collaborating with other design and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
Support the Head of Department in leading the QS team within the design office.
Monitor and manage project costs, ensuring adherence to budgets and minimizing cost overruns.
Review tender submissions, conduct cost analysis, and advise on potential cost-effective solutions.
Perform value engineering and risk assessments to optimize project expenditure.
Collaboration with Design and Project Teams:
Work closely with design teams to ensure cost-effective and practical design solutions that align with project budgets.
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Participate in project meetings to track financial progress and provide advice on cost-related issues.
Contract and Procurement Management:
Assist in the preparation and review of contract documents, including the measurement of work and valuation of progress payments.
Support in negotiating contracts and terms with contractors and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and industry standards in all QS functions.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Ensure that all QS practices comply with relevant standards, regulations, and best practices.
Monitor the accuracy and quality of QS deliverables, identifying areas for improvement.
Review and update cost estimation practices in line with industry developments.
